Blackberry & Sour cream mask

I rarely eat blackberries and would of never guessed they could be applied to the face. But I heard about this facial mask and thought I’d give it a try.

Blackberries have huge amount of antioxidants and nutrients such as fiber and salicylic acid. They’ve been known to reduce inflammation and potentially prevent acne. The salicylic acid in the berries are similar to aspirin. Eating the berries helps reduce fevers, and lower cholesterol levels. Researchers believe the ellagic acid in the berries can reduce cancer cells as well. Hmm, perhaps I should start eating them.

So why put it on your face? There are a lot of products out there that use blackberries as their key ingredient. The berry helps prevent free radicals which can cause damage to the skin.It also has a great source of vitamin E which contributes in lightening scars, fine lines and dark spots as well as moisturizes.

Okay, so what’s with the sour cream? Well, sour cream is used as a lactic acid which aids in helping the skin slow to age.It helps the skin retain moisture , boosts the production of collagen and promotes cell turn over. Convinced?

So here’s what I did.

003 Bought Blackberries + sour cream. Combined 1/4c each in a blender.

005Looked like a yummy smoothie when done.

008My daughter decided to join in on the  fun!  I seriously thought it would stain after  us coming out looking like smurfs. But don’t get it on your clothes! I believe it does stain material because it has been used as a natural dye. I left it on for 10 minutes (Mileena 3 mins)and then rinsed. I didn’t know how her skin would take to it so I didn’t allow her to put too much on and leave it on long. It made my face feel tight and heavy. After rinsing, it still had the tightness and my skin felt smooth and softer giving me a  natural pinkness to my cheeks.I’d say I would do this again. 🙂
